From New York to Paso Robles
Tyler Russell's journey to winemaking started behind the counter of a wine shop in Upstate New York. While stocking shelves and talking with customers, he discovered a calling he couldn't ignore. In his early twenties, the pull of the vineyard became too strong — so he packed his bags and headed west to Paso Robles.
Building the Foundation
He cut his teeth at Dover Canyon Winery, then honed his craft at Justin, Zenaida, and Calcareous. All the while, he invested his energy into his own project — first Nelle, focused on Rhône-style wines, then Cordant Winery for Pinot Noir. By 2014, he'd joined forces with David Taylor to create Tyler David Wine Works.
Enter Paco
Paco is the culmination of two decades of winemaking. Named in honor of Tyler's heritage, it represents everything he believes about wine: that it should be honest, bold, and deeply personal. Operating from his own facility in Tin City, Tyler sources fruit from vineyards spanning the cool coastal appellations to the limestone-rich soils of Paso Robles.
The wine speaks for itself.
Paco isn't a brand exercise. It's a counter-culture statement. No tasting notes designed by committee. No labels focus-grouped into oblivion. Every bottle is an artistic declaration — bold, unapologetic, and deeply personal. The label is the art. The juice is the proof.

Tin City
Tin City is a collection of industrial warehouses on the edge of Paso Robles that's become ground zero for the Central Coast's most exciting winemakers, brewers, and distillers. It's scrappy, unpretentious, and relentlessly creative.
This is where Tyler makes Paco. No manicured tasting rooms. No velvet ropes. Just concrete floors, barrel stacks, and the sound of someone next door doing something equally ambitious. It's the perfect home for wine that refuses to play it safe.
